There was big news in the college community this year as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form changed it’s timeline. Students can now begin their FAFSA form as early as October 1, which is a shift from previous years. As Takeila Hall points in a Winston-Salem Journal article, the date change means that students can work on their applications and financial aid forms during the same period of time.
Amy Denton of College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) explains what the FAFSA is:
If you’re just starting to plan for college and the FAFSA is new to you, you may find that you continue to have questions. CFNC is a free service that helps North Carolina students and families with planning, applying and paying for college.
